Bulleit and Beats

If you’re locked into our events page, you already know we’ve teamed up with the crew at Bulleit Frontier Whiskey to put on our monthly east coast jam session at Dirty Bones Kensington.

We’re excited to welcome in our fresh collab with a limited-edition Bulleit cocktail the Pecan Pie Old Fashioned, available exclusively at our monthly live music nights. Our resident cocktail aficionado and Head of Bars has developed a pimped up Old Fashioned, find a blend of Bulleit Bourbon infused with toasted pecan nuts, Giffard Banane du Brésil, Angostura bitters, orange bitters.

Sip our on a Pecan Pie Old Fashioned as we turn up at Back To Brooklyn on Thursday December 5.

We caught up with Jenna from Bulleit to find out why their Whiskey pairs so well with our Dirty Bones dishes and what old school beats she likes to get down to.

DB:Hey Jenna, how are you?

J: Staying fly!

DB:Can you tell us a little bit about what you do at Bulleit?

J: I am living the frontier whiskey experience; every day is so diverse and that’s extraordinary as the limits to my work are only the limits to my imagination. There’s a lot of room for creativity from designing experiences to meeting the bartenders and people who enjoy Bulleit and finding fun and engaging way to support bars. My favourite part is meeting people and having cultural collaborations with a variety of people who are redefining cultural frontiers.

DB:What’s your favourite Bulleit cocktail at Dirty Bones?

J: I enjoy the simplicity of a Boilermaker (a beer and a Bulleit on the side) next to the tasty chicken and waffles.

Surely the City Punch cocktail, pineapple, banana and bourbon with a hint of peat from Lagavulin it’s really showcasing that whiskey cocktails are fun.

I’ve said it before and will say it again: “Go to Dirty Bones for the pickle backs, stay for everything!”

City Punch

DB:What’s your favourite dish to pair with it?

J: It varies according to season; I oscillate between Pork Belly Ribs and the Vegan Dog.

On my food wish list, I have the Buffalo aubergine. As my job is to listen to what people praise or not, these have been getting a lot praise from punters. That’s the word on the street! Of course, there’s a cult around DB Mac and Cheese, when are you guys getting a statue for that dish?

DB: We’re working on it. What are your top 3 old school tracks that make it onto your party playlist?

J: 1. “The track hits your eardrum like a slug to your chest” California Love - 2pac

 2. “If you feel the urge to freak, do the jitterbug
Come and spread your arms if you really need a hug” Can I kick it – A Tribe Called Quest

3. It’s totally Salt-n-Pepa - Push it, impossible not to get everyone into moving

“ So all you fly mothers, get on out there and dance, Dance, I said!”

DB:Are the Bulleit crew excited to be help launch our east coast jam sessions, Back To Brooklyn, with us?

J: Bring it on Dirty Bones! The Roots, Guru, Biggie Smalls, LL Cool J…yes I am pumped already!

Thanks Jenna, we can’t wait to be kickin’ it with our Pecan Pie Old Fashioned Bulleit cocktail and some live beats at Back to Brooklyn on Thursday December 5th.
